Subclass 489 Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa to be replaced by Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa on 16 November 2019. Like the 489 visa, the 491 will be a points-based regional visa requiring sponsorship by a state, territory or family.
Subclass 187 Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) to be replaced, in part, by Subclass 494 Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) visa. Like the 187/RSMS visa, this will be a regional employer-sponsored visa, however unlike the 187/RSMS visa, it will only be a temporary visa.
Both visas will have a pathway to permanent residence via the new Subclass 191 Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (commencing November 2022) provided applicants have earned a minimum income for at least three years as the holder of a a 491 or 494 visa.
